No Need to Fit In

No Need to Fit In

Anyone get sick of putting a fitted sheet on their bed? Haha! The other day I reversed it. I picked out a regular sheet from my closet to cover the mattress. The result was very simple and quick! Then I used the fitted sheet for my body. It wrapped all around me with only my head sticking out, I comfortably squealed “perfect!”

This small way of changing it up made me think, ” Have I been doing this wrong all along!?!” Hmmm…possibly…just doing what I have been told while the outcome did not work out so well? It sounds like my life at times. “They” (whoever “they” are. ) They said “work hard, all you need is a job with benefits, get married, buy a car, buy a house, by the way…when are you having children?”

Nothing is wrong with that. I’m very blessed as well as other women who have a life like the one described above. Except I have fur babies, not real babies. Wink!

But what if there is more? What if what God said in His word was not just a fairytale? Not just some “nice words” or a little encouragement to keep us going. Not just a pat on the back or a cat poster that reads “Hang In There”.

20 Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, 21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.

His word is not a “maybe”. He is not a “maybe” kind of guy…He is God. The great I Am. If He said He will do it, He will do it. The End.

If you’re holding on to regrets or thinking that you have to live a second class kind of life, you are wrong my friend. God told me to “Hit the gas and don’t look back!” I am going to listen to what He says. I cannot waste any more time thinking about what could have or should have been. I am only able to live in the present time. There is nothing wrong with that. Even if I have messed up, I have failed or have been broken and felt like I could not go on any longer. He will never waste any parts of my life. Anything that you have been thru, it is not a waste!

For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us].

Ephesians 2:10 (AMP) Bible.com

Did you know in God, there is complete freedom to be yourself? To be creative and live a life designed specifically for you? He came onto the Earth to bring uproar. To do what everyone said was unacceptable. To do what everyone said could not, should not, and will not be done. What a surprise that in 3 days after being hung on the cross, He rose from the dead and brought healing and forgiveness to all who would accept Him…even some that were not accepting. Who and what is stopping you from being the person that He has predestined you to be? Are they not accepting? Because He is. Do they not understand you? Because He does. Do you feel like you do not even know where to begin in finding out who you are? Because He knows. I dare you to ask Him.

So maybe our lives are messy and we can’t figure out how the darn fitted sheet goes on our beds. Maybe we’re not supposed to just fit into what the world is doing. Maybe were suppose to reverse things, go a different direction, stir things up up a bit! Have some adventure, think outside the box. Actually why not tear those boxes apart? Instead of trying to fit into a person, we will never be, let us run into the purpose of God where we belong.

I want to live a life of surprise. What about you? He will still keep us stable, even if we make mistakes along the way. Let us be the one true individual that God has purposed us to be.

Then He will stick His head out from Heaven. He will look down on us and squeal with delight, “perfect!”
