Resurrection-a poem by Cynthia

Resurrection-a poem by Cynthia

The physical incapabilities of my body is evident.
The red burning of my cheeks.
The heart in my chest beating oh so fast.
The weakness in my legs.
The part of my gut that holds my dinner is nauseating.
My mind’s thoughts scream to me,
“This won’t work, you have tried everything!”

Yet I remain still…I quiet the territorial thoughts that try to take over my mind.
Yet I remain still…I can’t help but think that God can make a way out of no way.
That this is exactly why He died on the cross and rose again.
To prove every time that by His scarred hands, He can do the impossible.
He restores peace and defeats the enemy of reasoning.
He defeats the sick overthinking that creeps in, trying to find an answer here on Earth.
An answer that can only be found in the Heavenly Realms.

You Oh God are the beginning and the end!
The period to every sentence!
The answer to every question!
The healer of all wounds!
The only one who shed His blood and overcame the darkness.
The one who is my shelter and sanctuary.

I think about the life You lived.
It stays on my mind.
The excruciating pain from the nails that were hammered into Your hands.
The same hands used to bring healing soon after.
You were dead, Your body lay cold as ice to the very core.
Body joints and muscles began to stiffen almost immediately after death.
Even the limestone slab You laid upon could not stop the quick decay of Your human body.
For 3 days drops of Your blood leaked out.
Every organ completely shut down.
It seemed like this would be Your demise.

Who knew that this was going to be the best chronological time of all?
Who knew God was waiting in anticipation…knowing He would see His son rise from the dead by His very own hands?
In the valley of death, decay, and evil, Your light and miracles take place.

Nobody knew.
Nobody could fathom You awakening from that deathly slumber.
Nobody could even bet on it or be faithful for such a thing.
And yet, You still rose from the dead, Lord!
The stone was removed from the tomb and You came to life.
To love us and perform miraculous life-changing events that we still speak of today.

Lord, loose what’s in Heaven here on Earth and let Your will be done!
Let the power of Your resurrection and the pureness of Your blood wash away the pain and anguish forevermore.
On high You stand!
Your love is everlasting and Your mercy endures forever!
You desire goodness in Your children’s lives and goodness is what You will bring forth.
Freedom is found in You and You alone.
Deliver us from the evil one as we rejoice in all Your ways.
Let us live a life worthy of Your death and Your resurrection.
