Write Out the Vision

Write Out the Vision

2 Then the Lord answered me and said,
“Write the vision And engrave it plainly on [clay] tablets
So that the one who reads it will run.
3 For the vision is yet for the appointed [future] time
It hurries toward the goal [of fulfillment]; it will not fail.
Even though it delays, wait [patiently] for it,
Because it will certainly come; it will not delay.

It is so important, especially at this time, that we stay focused and write down what we want to accomplish going forward. We won’t be stuck in the house for much longer. What have you done so far during this pandemic?

Honestly, I have been blessed enough for my schedule to stay the same. I haven’t been stuck in the house much. I am still going to work during the week. I am still getting out during the weekends to at least go on a car cruise. Although this may seem like a nicer situation than others, I am not going to lie, at times I have been frustrated as well.
At times I have wanted to be able to stay at home too. To have extra time on my hands and to relax.
For people stuck at home, I am sure they want to get back to work earning a paycheck. Get back to daily routines and feel almost normal again.
For people going into work every day, they might want to stay home, read a book, or enjoy a fun hobby. As humans, we seem to never be satisfied.
I mean, I understand both sides. I haven’t lived in a pandemic before and did not expect this to happen. One thing I hope we can agree on is that we don’t want all this time to be forgotten or wasted.
Do I really want everything to be “normal” again? Not really, I am expecting greater things to happen in this lifetime. This virus has come to harm us, but I trust that good can come from this.

28 And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.

No matter what situation this COVID-19 has got you in, no matter what season of life you are in, writing down and taking note of what we want to see manifest inside of our lives is highly important. This is something I suggest we do numerous times over the course of our lives.

Where to Begin

I would suggest that you go buy a journal, a notepad, use your computer or laptop, or use the Memo or Notepad area on your phone. You do not need to be a professional writer by any means, but it is important to stay in tune with the Holy Spirit every day.

Listen, God has put desires inside of your heart. He has put goals and dreams inside of you that He wants you to experience. So much so, that we have to condense these goals. We have to have a clear path, from point A to Z. Writing these things down is only the beginning.
How important is it that we begin to have a vision and write it down?

18 If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.

Proverbs 29:18 (MSG), Bible.com

18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV), Bible.com

In these 2 different versions of the same scripture, we see that if we do not have a vision, purpose, goal, or something we are reaching towards, then we will perish or stumble all over.

Affirmations

Let’s begin with affirmations. An affirmation is when you speak or write down exactly what you want to see happen or come to pass. It is a way of affirming and speaking positive phrases over your life. I like to have my affirmations line up with scripture.
I will look for scriptures that pertain to what I want to accomplish and usually insert my name into them or put them in a sentence that I can look at or say out loud to simplify them.
Let me share with you some of my affirmations:

  • I AM SUPERCHARGED BY HIS STRENGTH. I AM BUBBLY AND EXCITED TO LET MY CREATIVITY EXPAND.
  • I AM CONVINCED THAT GOD WILL BRING MY BOOK TO COMPLETION AND MANY WILL BE DELIVERED FROM DESPAIR AND LONELINESS WHEN READ.
  • I AM A SOLID AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATOR. COMPASSION, FAITHFULNESS, AND KNOWLEDGE POUR OUT OF MY LIPS.
  • I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING IN LIFE. I AM NOT MISLED. I HAVE DIRECTION, CLARITY, VISION, AND MY STEPS ARE ORDERED BY GOD.
  • EVERYTHING I PUT MY HANDS ON WILL SUCCEED AND BE FRUITFUL.
  • I AM REFRESHED, REJUVENATED, HEALED AND WHOLE.
  • I WILL NOT BURY MY TALENTS. I WILL USE THEM TO GLORIFY GOD.
  • I WILL SING UNTO THE LORD, I WILL NOT BE AFRAID BUT HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN MY ABILITIES.
  • I WILL SURROUND MYSELF WITH OTHERS WHO REACH FOR THE SAME GOALS. SINGERS, WRITERS, BAKERS, PIN-UPS, CAR OWNERS, AND HEALTHY PEOPLE.

Now that I have a clear list of affirmations, I can continuously read these. Especially on days where I may not feel like doing anything, or I feel down, or maybe I am starting to doubt myself.
These words that I speak will begin to manifest in my life. It is like I am constantly reminding God of the promises He has made and that I believe and trust what He has said. Though I may doubt sometimes, my life is still in His hands. I remain faithful.

11 Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

Hebrews 11:1 (NLT), Bible.com

Vision Board

Another thing I want to share with you is a vision board that I created at the beginning of the year.

For my vision board, I purchased a poster board, craft paper, stickers, glue dots, and used a couple of magazines I had around the house to clip out any inspirational messages that spoke to me. Then I taped the poster board on a wall in my room where I can see it all the time.
So during this year, I will continue to make sure I am doing all the things that I have envisioned for myself. So far, most of these have come to pass. I will continue to rewrite my goals and mark off any that I have completed.

My husband and I also made a couple’s vision board, where we put the kind of house we want to live in, where we want to move, what kind of careers we want, and what qualities we need within our marriage and taped it to the wall. We will revisit this during the year and update it when needed.

God says remember me…

11 I will [solemnly] remember the deeds of the Lord;
Yes, I will [wholeheartedly] remember Your wonders of old.
12 I will meditate on all Your works
And thoughtfully consider all Your [great and wondrous] deeds.
13 Your way, O God, is holy [far from sin and guilt].
What god is great like our God?
14 You are the [awesome] God who works [powerful] wonders;
You have demonstrated Your power among the people.

Psalm 77:11-14 (AMP),Bible.com

The best part about writing all our dreams down is seeing them come to pass. This is important because when we’re feeling like we don’t understand what is going on and that everything in our lives is falling apart we can read all the things we have written down.
We can meditate on all the greatness God has done for us and we see that those promises were already fulfilled. During tough times, we can say “Well God, you brought me through this other situation, you can definitely get me through my current situation.”

Now that you see how important it is to write down and have a vision, please do whatever works best for you. Even if you write on Post its and tape them all over your house!
Let’s move towards all the goals in our lives, no matter the season we are in, no matter the hardships we face, if God is on our side, we will succeed!

May God bless your journey ahead and lead you to fulfill all your dreams!
